The International School Psychology Association (ISPA) and the Local Organizing Committee invite your submissions to the 44th Annual Conference ISPA 2023. This conference will be held in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy on 5-8 July 2023.

The theme of ISPA 2023 conference is “School psychology in a changing world: Challenges to promote the well-being of school communities”. We look forward to an inspiring scientific program with invited keynotes by internationally distinguished scholars, symposia and workshops, roundtables, and thematic sessions that address the theme of the conference.

ISPA 2023 encourages researchers, scholars, practitioners, trainers, early career professionals, students, and policy makers to submit their presentations to be included in the scientific program. A student poster session will be organized, and a “best student-poster” award will be launched.

Considering that school psychology is an applied science, ISPA 2023 welcomes submissions of both a theoretical and practical focus that relate to the conference theme and are of interest to an international audience.

Given the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of the work in school psychology, ISPA 2023 also welcomes submissions from other related fields of psychology, education, public health, mental health, etc.

The conference language will be English. An Italian strand will be arranged in one or two rooms.

THEME & TOPICS

The conference theme, School psychology in a changing world: Challenges to promote the well-being of school communities, is related to ISPA’s mission to pursue the best interest of children and youth, educators, parents, institutions, communities, and the profession. The world COVID-19 pandemic is one the main challenges the world has faced and is still having extensive impacts on the social, emotional, and economic well-being of families and children, especially vulnerable groups of children and youth, and is deemed to threaten several decades of advances in global public education. In addition to the challenges posed by the the pandemic, school psychologists are faced with several current and emerging challenges, such as social inequalities, victimization and violence, inclusion and integration of students with different backgrounds (e.g., migrants and refugees), child and adolescent vulnerabilities and student diversity, academic underachievement and early leaving students. Moreover, the school psychologists’ community has to address specific profession-related challenges: common standards for training and continuing professional development; development and dissemination of evidence-based practices and resources; conceptual models (paradigms) for practice, training, and research; traditional and emerging role and functions; advocacy to support the profession.

However, as school psychologists, we acknowledge that challenges represent not only risks but also provide opportunities for action and growth. The collaboration among organizations, institutions, and professionals at national and international levels can contribute to overcoming adversities and ultimately supporting school communities worldwide.

ISPA 2023 welcomes proposals to the scientific program for a variety of formats: paper and poster presentations, symposia, workshops, and round table discussions. Please read the Abstract Submission Guidelines carefully before you submit your abstract.

IMPORTANT SUBMISSION DATES

• Submissions Open: November 21st, 2022
• Submissions Close: March 1st March 17th, 2023
• Answer to authors: April 1st, 2023.

Please note that submissions received by December 31st will receive an early notification of acceptance/rejection.

• Early Registration Open: December 15, 2022
• Deadline for Presenters to register*: April 30th, 2023
• Early Registration Deadline (reduced fees): May 15th, 2023

* Completed registration of at least one author as presenter at the Conference and payment received by April 30th, 2023 are required for the entry of an accepted paper in the Conference Program and the Book of Abstracts.
